Example Project

We recommend trying out EDAcation with our example project first. This will help you get a good feel of the workflow and provide you with a working Verilog design right away.

The example project is based on the popular 'Blinky' project. By default, it is configured to program to a ULX3S FPGA.

  • Open it locally

    • If you have EDAcation installed into your local editor, you can clone and open the project with a single click.
    • Click here to open in VSCode
    • Click here to open in VSCodium

  • Open it in your browser

    • Click here to open in vscode.dev
    • Click here to open in github.dev
    • Note that certain features, such as FPGA programming, are unavailable in a browser environment.

  • Open it manually

    • The example project is hosted on GitHub.
    • Simply clone or download it and open the directory in your editor.

Opening the project​

After opening the directory containing the example project, you should be greeted by the following notification. Click 'open' to automatically open and activate the project in EDAcation.

If you do not see the notification, you can also activate the project manually by clicking on the blinky.edaproject file in the file explorer. From here, you will see a button you can click to easily open the project.
